Airbus - Head of Electronics Engineering 
Location: Portsmouth, UK. Type: Full time. Travel: Frequent at the start to know your team; BAU is bimonthly. Security clearance: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance.
OverviewAirbus Defence and Space Limited seeks a Head of Electronics Engineering to lead a team of Specialist Engineers across Portsmouth and Stevenage. The role combines management and technical leadership to grow the team and deliver complex Electronics, Electrical and Electromechanical (EEE) components and systems in the space environment.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of approximately 15 engineers across two sites, focusing on people development and performance management.
- Empower the team to achieve delivery on commitments, maintain project integrity, and ensure projects stay on track.
- Build a trustful and inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration, fact-based decision-making, and an "out-of-silos" mindset.
- Proactively identify, escalate, and manage risks and opportunities to protect project timelines and technical integrity.
- Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by identifying and eliminating non-value-added activities.
- Contribute to business growth and increased profitability in the short, medium, and long term.
- Act as the primary technical interface for internal and external customers regarding EEE parts and Radiation.
- Balance management responsibilities (approximately 80%) with technical work to maintain the team as subject matter experts in electrical, electronic, electromechanical components and radiation effects in space environments.
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams with a focus on people development and performance management.
- Deep understanding of electrical, electronic, electromechanical components or radiation effects on electronics in space environments.
- Experience working in international technical companies and interacting with stakeholders across the board, adapting communication style for technical, non-technical, detailed, or big-picture scenarios.
