AI Safety Residency: Independent Research (6-24 Months)

The Residency is run by MATS and offers 6 to 24 months to pursue an AI safety research agenda with strong independence. Residents collaborate with advisors from premier AI safety organizations and gain access to offices in London, Berkeley, and Washington, DC, with hybrid working and comprehensive benefits.

Stipend ranges from $155,000 to $285,000 (USD, gross) per year, reflecting location, seniority, and experience, plus research compute and conference funding.
