Deliver safe, effective assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients working both independently and collaboratively. Primarily part of the urgent care team, ensuring timely access to high-quality care for patients presenting with acute needs.

Role Summary

• Provide autonomous, evidence-based care via face-to-face and telephone consultations.
• Act as an Independent Prescriber within agreed clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
• Practice within scope of competence and agreed clinical limits.
• Be accountable for clinical decisions, including referral, discharge, and follow-up planning.

Job responsibilities

Professional & Educational Duties

• Adhere to NMC Code of Conduct and regulatory standards.
• Maintain professional registration and complete mandatory training.
• Participate in supervision, reviews, and competency assessments.
• Engage in audits, research, and teaching activities.

ANP-Specific Requirements

• Perform holistic assessments in routine and urgent care settings.
• Hold and maintain an Independent Prescribing qualification.
• Demonstrate confidence in autonomous clinical decision-making.

Additional Duties

• Ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors, report incidents and risks.
• Identify and support patients at risk of abuse; follow safeguarding protocols.
• Comply with practice policies including confidentiality, infection control, and equality.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

Person Specification Qualifications

• Professional Registration & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Masters degree (mandatory for ACP qualification post-December 2020, aligned with RCN Credentialing for Advanced Level Nursing Practice).
• Postgraduate diploma or degree (accepted for ACP qualification up to December 2020).
• Qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber, registered with the NMC.
• Full compliance with NMC revalidation requirements as outlined in the NMC Revalidation framework.
• Technical & Administrative Competence
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with GP practice systems and prescribing data monitoring platforms.
• Skilled in producing clear, accurate, and comprehensive clinical documentation.
• Competence in developing, implementing, and reviewing patient care plans.
• Governance & Compliance
• Strong understanding of data protection regulations (GDPR).
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality within a GP practice environment.
