Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Locum Advanced Practitioner (ANP/ACP) to join a well-established GP surgery in Minehead. This is a flexible locum opportunity offering full-day shifts (08:00-18:30) with days to suit your availability.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care, managing a range of acute and chronic presentations within a primary care setting, using the EMIS clinical system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions

  • Provide same-day/urgent care appointments for minor illness and injuries

  • Prescribe safely and effectively (if qualified as an Independent Prescriber)

  • Manage and support patients with long-term conditions

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood tests and imaging where appropriate

  • Provide health promotion and patient education

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using EMIS

  • Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with relevant professional registration (NMC/HCPC)

  • Qualification as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)

  • Experience working in primary care / GP surgery settings

  • Competent in autonomous clinical practice and decision-making

  • Experience using EMIS clinical system

  • Excellent communication and consultation skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectivell

Desirable

  • Independent Prescriber qualification

  • Experience in minor illness and/or urgent care settings

  • Up-to-date mandatory training and CPD portfolio
