Role summaryAdvanced Clinical Practitioner within the Emergency Department team, providing expert care and management to patients with a variety of conditions across Urgent and Emergency Care. HDFT ACPs are embedded as an integral part of the Medical Team. They are expected to make complex, autonomous decisions utilising expert practice and knowledge and evidence-based medicine. They work as part of a multidisciplinary team ensuring high quality patient care. The post holder will contribute to a safe, patient-focused service, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral and discharge of patients with a variety of presentations and diagnoses. Support and designated time will be given to contribute to service improvement, research and education.
Main duties- To deliver and participate in the clinical care of patients within the ED. Prioritise health needs and intervene appropriately.
- Direct responsibility for management of allocated patients, including appropriate assessment, examination, investigations, diagnosis and treatment resulting in safe management and appropriate referral or discharge.
- Order and interpret investigations, laboratory tests, x-rays and act on results as appropriate.
- Be an Independent Prescriber and initiate drug therapy/medications as per legal requirements for the practitioner's professional body, national and local guidelines.
- To be professionally and legally accountable for all work undertaken. Practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability that is within the Trust's policies and professional code of conduct (NMC, HCPC).
- Ensure that clinical documentation is comprehensive, accurate and contemporaneous.
- Ability to adapt specialist clinical knowledge and skills to different clinical settings and influence service delivery and patient care.

Person Specification Criteria- Registered Health Care Professional - NMC RN/Allied Health Professional
- Master's degree or post graduate certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice
- At least one accredited emergency care course e.g., ALS
- Registered Independent Prescriber
- Experience working as an ACP in an acute/emergency care setting or prehospital
- Experience of undertaking research and audit processes.
- RCEM Credentialed ACP.
- Minor Injuries Qualification.
- Evidence of clinical teaching
