Salary Scale: £102 - £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting an Advanced Teaching Assistant to work within secondary schools in York. We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and committed support professional who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential within a supportive educational environment.

Advanced Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

• Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of learning needs
• Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging learning activities and interventions
• Support students with SEND, SEMH, or other barriers to learning, promoting inclusion and independence
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers to support learning outcomes
• Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to support student development

Advanced Teaching Assistant Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role
• Knowledge of supporting students with SEND and additional learning needs is highly desirable
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
• A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting young people
• An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
• An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
