About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and innovative neurodevelopmental practitioners to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary services within the Croydon locality. You will be part of our Assessment and Liaison and Community Mental Health Teams.

We are looking for a practitioner with a passion for working with adults with neurodevelopmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct specialist Autistic Spectrum Diagnostic clinical assessments.
  • Support the development of a stepped-care approach to assist adults with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Aim to improve access, experience, and outcomes for this population.
  • To provide specialist interventions according to discipline including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
  • To offer expert consultation and advice to A&L and CMHT team members in Neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.
  • To participate in the development and implementation of a stepped care pathway for people presenting with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
  • To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.
  • To promote service evaluation, audit and research.
  • To scope clinical gaps for people with Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
  • To work as an autonomous professional within registration body guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment an discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.
  • To offer training to mainstream services.

Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and experience as a Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Pharmacist or Psychologist.
  • Entry-level qualification in Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Speech and Language Therapy and demonstrable practice in this field (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus supervised practice/additional training) that has been accepted for the purposes of professional registration.
  • Registered with professional body as appropriate to discipline eg. HCPC/RCN.
  • Qualifications in a therapeutic modality such as cognitive behavioural therapy.
  • Non medical prescriber.
  • Experience of working with individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Experience of assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature.
  • Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of diversity within local communities including experience of working within a multicultural framework.
  • Experience of developing and carrying out audit/research projects.
  • Experience of working with issues of risk and safety both physical and relational.
  • Experience of multi disciplinary working.
  • Experience of providing supervision to junior colleagues.
  • Experience of working in a community setting.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi disciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning and holding team roles.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities.
  • Skills in providing teaching and training to other professional groups.
  • Well developed IT skills including entry and analysis of research data.

This role will be based at Jeanette Wallace House, Eldridge Road, Croydon CR0 1ER.

Salary

£53,751 to £60,651 a year, inclusive of outer HCAs.
