Location: Aylesbury - Hybrid

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Working Setting: 50% Remote & 50% Site Based.

Contract: Permanent Full-Time

Sector: Personal Independence Payment (PIP) Functional Assessment

Salary & Rewards:

  • £40,000 - £43,000 salary
  • £3,000 approval bonus following successful completion of training

A Different Way to Use Your Clinical Skills? This is an opportunity to move away from hands-on care and into a structured clinical assessment role where your judgement, communication skills and professional experience remain at the centre of your day.

As a PIP Functional Assessor, you'll carry out assessments to understand how a person's physical or mental health condition affects their ability to complete everyday activities. Using your clinical knowledge, you'll gather information, review medical evidence and produce accurate, evidence-based reports to support the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

This is an assessment-focused role.

No treatment. No prescribing. No manual handling.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Complete structured assessments via telephone, video and face-to-face appointments
  • Review medical evidence, clinical records and relevant history
  • Assess how health conditions affect daily living and functional ability
  • Apply clinical reasoning to consider variability, reliability and risk
  • Produce detailed, evidence-based clinical reports
  • Manage your own structured caseload while working within a supportive multidisciplinary team

  • Full-time attendance is required throughout training.

Essential Criteria To be considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Professional Registration

  • Active UK NMC, HCPC or GPhC registration with no restrictions.

Eligible Professions

  • Adult Registered Nurse (RGN)
  • Adult Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
  • Adult Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD)
  • Adult Physiotherapist
  • Adult Occupational Therapist
  • Paramedic
  • Pharmacist

Clinical Experience

  • Minimum of 12 months' post-registration experience
  • Minimum of 12 months' UK-based adult clinical experience
  • Experience working within adult clinical settings such as acute, community, rehabilitation, primary care, secondary care or mental health services
  • Strong clinical assessment, history-taking and clinical reasoning skills
  • Experience producing clear, evidence-based clinical documentation
  • Confident IT skills and ability to work across digital systems
