Join a team trusted with producing high stakes international assessment materials where accuracy, security and on time delivery really matter.
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
As our next Administrator, you will support the smooth running of our production processes by completing detailed tasks and keeping everything moving to agreed deadlines. You will have the opportunity to pursue your potential by developing deep process expertise, learning new tools, and helping us improve how we work overtime.
About the roleAs an Assessment Materials Administrator, you will provide high quality administration that supports the production of live question paper material. You will help ensure Approved for Print (AFP) files and associated materials are ready in time for print, collation and dispatch - and that confidentiality is safeguarded at every step.
You'll work across a production cycle that can span multiple exam series at once, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to keep work moving, issues resolved, and standards consistently high. You will be a key part of the "hub" that keeps production on track. Subject matter knowledge is not required.
Responsibilities and accountabilities include:- Completing tasks accurately and on time, following agreed procedures and quality standards.
- Handling highly confidential materials responsibly, with strong attention to security requirements.
- Supporting administration across the end to end production cycle for your teams' portfolio from commission through to sign off.
- Processing hard copy materials when required (receipt, distribution, secure storage and confidential destruction) as part of controlled production stages.
- Supporting activities linked to copyright clearance and post exam publication.
- Supporting typesetting and document preparation tasks in line with house style.
- Helping maintain and update workflow data to support electronic production processes.
- Supporting data set up and input of question paper reference data to enable on screen marking.
- Playing your part in continuous improvement by using processes, technology and AI tools responsibly to strengthen how we deliver.
You will be organised, conscientious and dependable with a genuine commitment to accuracy and doing things the right way. You take pride in delivering to deadlines, you communicate clearly, and you are comfortable working with detailed processes in a security critical environment.
You will do especially well in this role if you're curious and improvement minded: someone who looks for better ways of working, is open to learning new tools, and can use digital support (including AI where appropriate) to plan, prioritise and work more efficiently.
You don't need to know our processes or our assessment context when you join - we'll teach you everything you need to know. What matters most is an appetite to learn, the ability to learn fast, and a genuine desire to grow and develop. If you bring the right mindset, we'll provide the training, support and space to build confidence and become highly capable in the role.
Essential criteria:- Ability to learn and apply processes quickly.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
- A professional, pragmatic and personable "can do" attitude.
- Effective communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel and Outlook).
If you meet the above minimum requirements, we encourage you to apply. Your application will be even stronger if you can also demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
- Experience using digital tools (including safe and responsible use of AI) to improve personal productivity or streamline repeatable tasks, while maintaining appropriate judgement and controls.
- Confidence in and an understanding of the importance of data, as well as using tools such as Power BI for working with reporting/data.
- Experience working in a process driven operational environment, ideally involving sensitive information, quality checks, or compliance.
We will support you to be at your best in work and to live well outside of it. In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a world class, flexible rewards package, featuring family friendly and planet friendly benefits including:
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Private medical and permanent health insurance
- Discretionary annual bonus
- Group personal pension scheme
- Life assurance up to 4 times annual salary
- Green travel schemes
We are a Disability Confident (DC) employer that is committed to equality and inclusion ensuring our recruitment process is accessible to all. The DC scheme's Offer of an Interview commitment applies to applicants who opt in, disclose a disability or a long term health condition, and best meet the minimum criteria for the role. In instances where interviewing all qualifying candidates is not practicable, we prioritise those who best meet the minimum criteria, as we would for applicants who do not have a disability or a long term health condition.
