Pay Rate: £13.36 per hour
Contract: Temporary assignment until 31 March 2027
Hours: Full-time (core hours may include occasional evenings and weekends depending on business needs)
We are currently recruiting for a Reception & Administration Officer to join the Probation Service at Denmark House in West Hendon. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, professional and customer focused individual to support the day to day running of a busy office while making a positive contribution to the justice system.
The RoleAs the first point of contact for visitors, service users and colleagues, you will provide a welcoming and professional reception service while delivering a wide range of administrative support. You'll work closely with operational teams to ensure the office runs efficiently and that confidential information is handled with the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities- Greeting visitors and service users in a professional manner
- Managing reception, telephone and email enquiries
- Booking meeting rooms, hot desks and visitor access
- Processing incoming and outgoing mail
- Ordering office supplies and PPE
- Maintaining accurate records and updating databases
- Producing correspondence and administrative documentation
- Scanning, filing and archiving confidential records
- Supporting operational teams with administrative tasks
- Monitoring building maintenance issues and reporting faults
- Assisting with health and safety procedures, including fire alarm testing and evacuations where required
- Handling petty cash and travel warrants for service users
- Providing excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality at all times
We're looking for someone who has:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities
- Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- The ability to work accurately in a fast paced environment
- A professional, calm and confident approach when dealing with members of the public
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Previous administration or reception experience
- Experience working in customer service
- Experience working within a busy or high pressure environment
- Experience within criminal justice, probation, policing or a public sector environment (desirable but not essential)
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths, or relevant administrative experience
- Strong IT skills across Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- All successful applicants will be subject to security clearance and identity checks before starting.
- This is a temporary assignment ending 31 March 2027.
- The role may require occasional evening and weekend working in line with business needs.
