Job Description

Role: Accounts Receivable Assistant x2

Salary: Up To £28,000 Per Annum

Location: Chesterfield

Hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern:Monday - Friday (Hybrid Working)

Temporary: 3 month Temporary Contract

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Assistant to manage sales ledger activities, perform bank reconciliations, and support the finance team in ensuring accuracy and efficiency across financial records. The role involves handling credit control tasks, resolving payment queries, and contributing to month-end processes.

Duties:

  • Raising and processing sales ledger invoices
  • Matching invoices to receipts and remittances
  • Allocating and coding cash and invoices appropriately
  • Posting and reconciling cash from bank statements to the ledger
  • Resolving outstanding payment queries promptly
  • Monitoring accounts for delayed payments and following up on overdue balances
  • Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Building and maintaining relationships with colleagues across the business
  • Supporting process improvements and system change initiatives
  • Assisting with month-end close activities
  • Collaborating with the management accounts team to ensure ledger accuracy and compliance

Successful candidate:

  • Strong numerical and data entry skills with high attention to detail
  • Organised, thorough, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using Sage 200 (essential)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ownership of responsibilities and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive in approach
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role (desirable)
  • Understanding of basic bookkeeping principles (desirable)
  • Experience working through system or process changes (desirable)
