Accounts Manager

Location: Cardiff

Job Type: Permanent Full-time

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Salary: £35k Circa per annum

Our client

Our client is an established and growing professional services organisation based in Cardiff and is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to lead and manage its financial operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who can take ownership of the firm's accounts, ensure regulatory compliance and provide high-quality financial information to support senior-level decision-making.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience within a law firm or professional services environment, with a strong understanding of financial management, compliance and relevant legal accounting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the firm's day-to-day financial management and accounting operations.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Manage client and office accounts in line with relevant legal accounting regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal accounting rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor cash flow, budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Lead, supervise and support the accounts team.
  • Manage VAT returns, tax compliance and statutory reporting.
  • Oversee billing, invoicing and credit control.
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks and financial advisers.
  • Maintain effective financial controls and accounting procedures.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to partners to support business decisions.
  • Oversee payroll and related financial obligations where required.

Required

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Manager, Finance Manager, Senior Accountant or similar.
  • Previous experience within a law firm or professional services environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of legal accounting, financial controls and compliance requirements.

Desirable

  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and financial systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail.
  • A high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership and provide commercially focused financial advice.
