Role Description

I'm working with a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in Bury St Edmunds that is looking to strengthen its Corporate Services team with the addition of an Accounts Manager.

This is a newly created role driven by an increase in accounts and non-audit work. It's an excellent opportunity for a technically strong individual who enjoys working with larger, more complex clients and getting involved in ad hoc and specialist projects.

The position is a purely non-audit role, focused on accounts, tax and advisory work. You'll manage your own client portfolio while also supporting the audit team by overseeing the non-audit elements of their client work.

What's in it for you?

  • 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
  • Flexible and hybrid working
  • Enhanced maternity pay
  • Enhanced sick pay and income protection
  • Life assurance
  • Paid study leave and professional subscriptions
  • Wellbeing programme including counselling and legal support
  • Tax-efficient pension (salary sacrifice)
  • Regular team social events and a supportive working environment

What you'll do:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, taking ownership of accounts and advisory work
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts for medium-sized and larger entities under FRS102
  • Oversee corporation tax and VAT compliance, working with internal specialists where required
  • Support the audit team by managing non-audit services on shared clients
  • Work on ad hoc and technical assignments, including complex accounting matters
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing clear and practical advice
  • Review work and ensure files are ready for Partner review
  • Mentor and support a Senior who will report directly to you

What you'll need

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong UK practice experience in accounts and financial reporting
  • Experience working with medium-sized companies under FRS 102
  • Previous experience managing a client portfolio
  • Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail
