Accounts Director - Bridgend

A leading firm of Chartered Accountants in Bridgend is seeking an experienced Accounts Director (or Partner-level professional) to play a key role within their established General Practice / Accounts division.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior practitioner to bring their expertise to a well-regarded firm, take ownership of a high-value portfolio, and lead a talented team across all levels.

The Role
  • Taking full responsibility for a substantial portfolio of large, technically complex SMEs and owner-managed businesses across a range of industries
  • Overseeing the end-to-end accounts process, including budgeting, workflow management, and timely delivery
  • Leading and developing a team from trainee through to manager level, ensuring high-quality output and strong morale
  • Managing and strengthening client relationships, understanding their business needs, and delivering tailored advice across both compliance and advisory projects
  • Reviewing accounts and other assignments prepared by managers and team members
  • Overseeing day-to-day staff planning to ensure appropriate allocation of technically capable team members
  • Driving business development activity, including proactive client management, identifying opportunities, and participating in formal and informal pitching processes
About You
  • ACA / ACCA qualified
  • Strong, up-to-date technical knowledge (UK GAAP, IFRS, ISAs, Companies Act)
  • 10+ years' experience within practice, with exposure to complex SME/OMB clients
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and manage a diverse team
  • Commercially focused, client-driven, and confident in developing and winning work
