Job Description

We are working with a well established and growing accountancy practice in Chichester that is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant Manager to join its expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional to take ownership of a varied client portfolio, support the development of junior team members and build strong client relationships within a progressive practice environment.

The firm works with a diverse range of clients, from sole traders and owner managed businesses through to larger, multi million pound organisations with an international presence. This provides plenty of variety, with opportunities to broaden your technical experience, develop your advisory skills and specialise in particular areas of interest where business needs allow.

Offering a hybrid working arrangement, ongoing professional development and clear opportunities for career progression, this role would suit someone looking to take the next step in their accountancy practice career.

Key Responsibilities

As an Accounts Assistant Manager, you will take responsibility for managing and developing your client portfolio, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, profitably and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and prioritising a portfolio of accounts clients, ensuring work is completed within agreed deadlines and budgets.

• Planning assignments, establishing the scope of work and agreeing budgets and fee levels.

• Preparing statutory accounts and delegating appropriate work to junior team members.

• Reviewing and monitoring work in progress, ensuring assignments remain on track and are completed to the required standard.

• Providing guidance, support and development to colleagues, helping to maintain quality and efficiency across the team.

• Maintaining regular communication with clients, providing updates on assignments and responding to queries.

• Building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to introduce additional services and advisory support.

• Monitoring client fees and ensuring bills are prepared and issued promptly.

• Contributing to business development activities, including attending networking events and helping to raise the firm's profile within the local business community.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to deliver an excellent client experience.

• Experience supervising or delegating work to junior colleagues, with the ability to provide support and guidance where needed.

• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines and manage workloads effectively.

• A proactive and enquiring approach, with the confidence to identify issues and explore opportunities to add value for clients.
