Accounts Assistant Manager

A well-established accountancy practice in Guildford is recruiting an Accounts Assistant Manager to join its growing Accounts team. This role is ideal for a qualified ACA / ACCA accountant with strong practice experience who is looking to take on greater responsibility, client ownership and advisory exposure.

The position offers a mix of hands-on accounts preparation and review, team supervision and business advisory / corporate finance support, making it a well-rounded opportunity for career progression.

The Role

  • Manage a growing portfolio of clients, acting as the primary point of contact
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and groups
  • Prepare and review year-end working paper files and liaise with auditors
  • Manage and oversee group consolidations
  • Review accounts and files prepared by junior colleagues
  • Support Directors with advisory projects, including due diligence and company valuations
  • Deliver management accounts, forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis with commentary
  • Take ownership of assignments from planning through to final delivery
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships to ensure a high-quality service
  • Support the training, supervision and development of junior staff
  • Ensure compliance with current UK accounting standards and best practice
  • Contribute to process improvements and firm growth initiatives

Candidate Profile

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (essential)
  • Degree-level education or equivalent
  • Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards
  • Experience preparing and reviewing accounts for limited companies and groups
  • Experience with consolidated accounts (essential)
  • Exposure to Charities' accounts (desirable)
  • Interest in corporate finance and advisory work
  • Experience using CCH Accounts Production, Silverfin and Xero (desirable)
  • Strong Excel and general IT skills
  • Full UK driving licence with own vehicle preferred
