Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant, you'll get exposure to month-end, reporting, reconciliations, audit and international finance, while also getting involved in automation, AI and process improvement.

The client is a fast-growing maritime business, backed by a major global shipping group.

Description

• Supporting monthly accounts and group reporting
• Preparing journals, including accruals, prepayments and intercompany recharges
• Preparing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
• Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
• Investigating cost variances and supporting financial reporting
• Processing purchase invoices and employee expenses
• Preparing bank reconciliations and supporting treasury activities
• Supporting UK tax compliance and external audits
• Working with finance teams across the UK and internationally
• Supporting process improvements, automation and AI projects
• Helping to improve controls, systems and processes across finance
• Providing transactional cover for international colleagues when required

Profile

• Previous Assistant Accountant / transactional finance experience
• A solid understanding of double-entry, accruals and prepayments
• Experience with reconciliations and month-end
• Intermediate Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• A genuine interest in technology, automation and AI
• Confidence working with colleagues across different countries

Job Offer

• Salary ranging from £35,000 to £40,000, dependent on the level of experience.
