Accounting & Tax Manager

For our client, a leading international company, located around Antwerp, we are looking for an experienced Accounting & Tax Manager to take end-to-end ownership of financial reporting, statutory compliance, and tax obligations for its Belgian entity.
This role offers broad scope and high autonomy. You will serve as the key local finance contact, reporting to the international finance leadership and collaborating closely with the company's shared service center abroad. While transactional activities are centralized, you will remain responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial and tax matters locally.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting (Record to Report - R2R)
- Oversee the month-end close process and review monthly trial balances
- Ensure accurate and timely US GAAP accounting and reporting in collaboration with SSC
- Prepare and review local statutory accounts
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors
- Provide technical accounting advice and internal control support to local business teams
Payroll
- Oversee all payroll-related transactions in collaboration with SSC
- Ensure accurate accruals for vacation and other compensation-related items
Tax
- Ensure full compliance with local tax obligations, including timely filings and payments
- Manage relationships with tax authorities and external tax advisors
- Maintain strong internal controls over all tax-related processes
- Support transfer pricing documentation and lead implementation of local transfer pricing policies
Treasury
- Lead the preparation of local cash flow forecasts and ensure effective liquidity management
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Promote a strong compliance and control mindset within the organization
- Ensure processes follow all applicable financial and tax standards, including SOX requirements
- Maintain and monitor operational controls that impact financial reporting integrity
Process Ownership & Business Partnership
- Take full ownership of local financial statements under both US GAAP and Belgian GAAP
- Act as the subject matter expert for local GAAP application and policy interpretation
- Support the integration of local, regional, and corporate finance initiatives
Your Profile:
We are looking for a critical and hands-on finance professional who can take full ownership of local financial and tax responsibilities while operating in a multinational, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to work independently and confidently with both internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Solid understanding of US GAAP, accruals, and reconciliations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
- Comfortable working in a diverse, international environment and engaging with stakeholders across local, regional, and global levels (including auditors, consultants, and tax authorities)
- Ability to take initiative and operate effectively in a stand-alone role, with limited daily supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant certification
- Experience in multinational companies or Big 4 audit/tax firms
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA; advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel
- Strong knowledge of local Belgian GAAP and tax compliance
- Prior involvement with SOX controls and corporate compliance frameworks
