Role Overview

An established accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Client Manager to manage a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses.

The role combines accounts preparation, tax compliance, management accounts, business advisory work and team supervision.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of limited companies, LLPs, partnerships and sole traders.
  • Prepare and review year-end accounts, business tax computations and tax returns.
  • Prepare Self Assessment returns and Capital Gains Tax computations.
  • Assist with R&D tax claims and tax-planning opportunities.
  • Manage and review bookkeeping, VAT and management accounting services.
  • Prepare management accounts, forecasts, budgets, cash-flow projections and performance reports.
  • Advise clients on profitability, efficiency, financial controls and business processes.
  • Build strong relationships and act as a key point of contact for clients.
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Attend client meetings alongside senior managers or directors.
  • Supervise, review and support the development of junior team members.
  • Train colleagues and clients in the use of Xero and other cloud-accounting applications.
  • Assist with billing, work in progress, workflow planning and credit control.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional services and new clients.

Skills and Experience

  • At least five years' experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Experience managing or supporting a portfolio of clients.
  • Strong accounts preparation and taxation knowledge.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing management accounts, VAT returns and bookkeeping.
  • Confident client communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Experience supervising or developing junior colleagues.
  • AAT or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Knowledge of Xero and cloud-accounting software.
  • TaxCalc experience would be advantageous.
