This course introduces you to how global and national health systems interact, and how policy responses are developed to address these challenges.
Global health challenges and policy responses
You will explore the key challenges affecting global health systems, including access to healthcare services, system inequalities, and governance issues. The course examines how global health actors and policymakers respond to these challenges through coordinated strategies and reforms.
Access to healthcare and universal health coverage
A core focus of the course is access to healthcare and the global movement towards universal health coverage. You will analyse real-world barriers to healthcare access at national level and evaluate approaches used to improve equity, efficiency, and sustainability in health systems.
Health systems thinking and real-world case studies
Using a health systems thinking approach, you will explore how different components of health systems interact. Through case studies, you will assess the challenges of implementing universal health coverage in diverse global contexts and consider practical policy solutions.
