Job Description
Technical Design Consultant (Architectural/Joinery)

Location: Kenmare, Co. Kerry, Ireland (onsite role)

Company: Holbein Carpentry and Joinery Ltd

Holbein Carpentry and Joinery Ltd is a high-end manufacturing company specialising in bespoke kitchens, staircases, wardrobes and internal joinery. Following a major expansion of our workshop facilities, we are developing a range of premium standardised product lines alongside our bespoke offering.

We are seeking a Technical Design Consultant with an architectural or technical design background to join our growing team. This role is ideally suited to an Architectural Technician, Architect, or Furniture Designer who enjoys the practical and technical side of design and wants to see projects move efficiently from concept to manufacture.

The successful candidate will act as the link between client, design, and production - ensuring projects are technically resolved, commercially viable, and delivered to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise directly with architects, private clients, and contractors to develop practical joinery solutions.
  • Carry out detailed site surveys and technical measurements, primarily for kitchens and staircases.
  • Translate client requirements into accurate technical drawings and manufacturing-ready information.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of standardised product systems.
  • Coordinate project handovers to the production team to ensure efficient and error free manufacturing.
  • Manage client relationships throughout the project lifecycle with a solutions-focused approach.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree or qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Furniture Design, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of technical detailing and construction principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and ability to work confidently with 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • An interest in timber construction, joinery detailing, and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
Benefits
  • Opportunity to work on high-quality residential projects from concept through to manufacture.
  • Collaborative environment combining design, engineering, and craftsmanship.
  • Involvement in the development of new premium product lines.
  • A varied role combining workshop interaction, site visits, and technical design work.
