Job Title: Senior Engineer - Structural Engineering (Shock and Dynamics)

Salary: From £39,000 - depending on skills and experience

The Shock and Dynamics team:
You will be joining an enthusiastic team of 10 members and have an opportunity to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple disciplines. The position will give you a great satisfaction of being a part of the team, playing a significant role in every element of submarine design.
As a Senior Engineer within the Shock and Dynamics department, you will support Principal Engineers with ensuring structures and equipment are verified against naval shock requirements. You will support requirements for sub systems to ensure overall boat requirements are met. You will also support sub-system maturity in relation to naval shock and will provide design guidance to both internal and external stakeholders at design reviews.
We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

What you'll be doing:
- Supporting Principal Engineers with the setting of sub-system requirements to meet whole boat naval shock requirements
- Supporting management of verification, validation (V&V) and qualification evidence to ensure sub-systems meet shock requirements
- Developing design justification documentation
- Supporting and undertaking assessments of structures and equipment subjected to naval shock load cases
- Providing design guidance at design reviews with respect to naval shock load cases
- Undertaking peer review checking activities
- Supporting physical shock test activities
- Mechanical Engineering Degree (or STEM degree)
- Knowledge of undertaking structural design calculations (i.e. bolted joints / bending moment / shear stress)
- Understanding of material strength properties and limits (elastic and plastic properties)
