Why this job mattersAs a lead consultant in our Defence Solution Design Authority, you will work as a trusted industry partner to our defence customer and support internal business units (Sales, Business, Technology, Security, Operations), stakeholders, and third-party technology providers. You will report to the practice manager.
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, the customer, and its departments to conceptualise strategic visions, capture requirements, and create innovative digital solutions aligned with their digital strategy, transforming their business operations.
This role is underpinned by robust ICT framework architecture, security principles, methodologies, industry best practices, and compliance policies. You will provide expert solution architecture throughout all stages of the design lifecycle.
You will be part of a Solution Design Authority team working closely with architects, designers, technology experts, business managers, and analysts, ensuring successful delivery across various sensitive and unique projects.
What you'll be doing- Engaging with customers and stakeholders to provide architecture governance, leadership, and decision-making aligned with architecture principles.
- Developing and owning enterprise architecture artifacts, strategies, and roadmaps from business and technology perspectives, including current, future, and transitional states.
- Providing expertise in customer engagement, shaping, and qualifying complex service change and delivery requirements.
- Responding to customer RFI, contract change notifications, solution proposals, and bids throughout the design lifecycle.
- Delivering architecture outcomes such as proof of concept, whitepapers, bid documents, and high-level designs addressing customer requirements.
- Enterprise networks (IP Layer 1-7)
- Enterprise network security and boundary protection
- Service provider networks (e.g., DWDN, SDH, OTN)
- ICT vendor technologies (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, Nokia)
- Architecture methodologies & languages (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, BPMN)
- Experience with enterprise architecture tools (e.g., iServer, IBM Doors)
- Responding to complex, multi-vendor public sector propositions and bids
- Developing solution roadmaps and governance structures in line with customer requirements
