Job Description
At GSK we are now looking to recruit a capable technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) who is knowledgeable/experienced in Visual Inspection (both manual and automatic) and Leak Testing technologies.
This role sits within the Global Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) organization, and reports into the Director - Visual Inspection Leak Testing.
The MSAT organization is a network-focused function which provides strategic direction and technical and operational support and execution to ensure that manufacturing site goals are achieved throughout GSK's Global Supply Chain network. MSAT is the keeper of the body of manufacturing process knowledge, creates the instruction set(s) and ensures manufacturing operations are aligned with the registered process. The primary aim is to ensure manufacturing processes are capable, compliant, in control and continuously improving. This includes managing technology transfers, implementing control strategies, providing technical process support, and process support across the product lifecycle (while implementing new products and new modalities for commercial products and product-related programs).
Job purpose: The Senior Manager is a subject matter expert (SME) for the design, management and deployment of the Visual Inspection platforms across GSK manufacturing network. The role works very closely with R&D to streamline processes activities for Aseptic Technology.
Day-to-day you will work cross-functionally with up to 20 people (in a matrix organisation) to support the global manufacturing site network with defining vision, shaping roadmaps, and driving delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel: Please note that the successful applicant will need to travel between Barnard Castle and Upper Merion as part of the delivery of their role. We anticipate that travel will be maximum 20% of their time.

You will possess strong practical knowledge and expertise in the field of visual inspection and leak detection, with a proven track record of ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
As this role is multi-faceted and includes liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders (including on-site and above-site teams and senior managers), you must be a motivated person who has strong experience of working in complex technical situations. You will be a self-starter with a clear problem-solving approach to your work. Strong people skills and a proven ability to influence people to achieve and drive performance are a pre-requisite for the role. You will also have a strong continuous improvement mindset and be hands on in your approach.

- Establish, document, and maintain best practices for visual inspection and leak detection processes in GSK sites and CMOs.
- Act as a visual inspection SME and ensure the technical support for visual inspection and leak detection to process transfer to CMOs. Support Tech transfer team to qualification batch execution stage.
- Provide expert technical guidance and support to CMOs inspection teams (ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements).
- Design and conduct training programs for inspection personnel of CMOs to enhance their skills and knowledge in visual inspection and leak detection techniques.
- Oversee and ensure the quality and accuracy of inspection reports and findings (implementing corrective actions when necessary).
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance inspection efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to address inspection-related issues and develop integrated solutions.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management, highlighting key findings and recommendations for action.
- Ensure all inspection activities are conducted in accordance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical or scientific subject, or strong relevant technical experience in visual inspection.
- Experience / Knowledge of visual inspection (manual and automatic).
- Understanding of governance and compliance (ideally obtained from a highly-regulated environment).
- Knowledge / experience of GMP would be highly advantageous.
