Senior Linux Engineer

Linux Engineer (Red Hat) Defence Consultancy Up to £80,000 + £5,000 bonus Hemel Hempstead DV Clearance Required

MERITUS are working with a leading defence consultancy looking for an experienced Linux Engineer (Red Hat preferred) to work on customer site in Hemel Hempstead.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in the design, build & management of secure Linux hosted Infrastructure & platforms. They will work closely with customer teams to build complex a scaleable infrastructure while adhering to strict security controls & specifications. To be successful you will need strong experience building Linux Infrastructure (RedHat preferred), VMware administration & scripting using Shell or a similar language.

The role is based on-site in Hemel Hempstead & due to the nature of the work candidates are required to hold active DV security clearance.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide the technical direction for the build, delivery and maintenance of secure Linux platforms.
• Be hands-on in all aspects of the design, build, deployment and support of customer facing systems.
• Employ and adapt industry-leading techniques and best practices to suit customer challenges.
• Work within existing monitoring, observability and security frameworks to achieve customer requirements.

Required Experience:

• In depth experience in the design, build & management of Linux Infrastructure / Platforms, Red Hat preferred.
• Experience scripting using Shell or similar languages.
• Monitoring tools integration including SNMP MiB gathering/custom polling, syslog.
• Exposure to DevOps tools such as Kubernetes / Docker would be highly beneficial.
• Active DV security clearance.
