SEMH Learning & Behaviour Mentor

Connex Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Learning & Behaviour Mentor to support pupils within a specialist educational setting in the Chippenham area.
This rewarding opportunity involves working closely with children and young people who may present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, trauma related needs, or additional learning difficulties. The role will involve providing both classroom based support and targeted interventions to help pupils engage positively with their education and personal development.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a genuine difference and who can build strong, positive relationships with pupils in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Support students both inside and outside of the classroom to encourage engagement and positive learning behaviours
- Build trusted relationships that promote confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
- Support the implementation of behaviour strategies and individual support plans
- Encourage a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural, or pastoral needs
- Calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Ability to adapt to the needs of individual pupils and classroom settings
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Connex Education
