We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new Options Autism school in County Durham, designed to provide exceptional education and support for pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism.
We are looking for an experienced School Cleaner to join our team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our pupils and staff.
- Job Role: School Cleaner
- Salary: £12.50 per hour
- Location: Durham, North East, TS29 6EY
- Hours: 15 Hours per week; Monday to Friday 3pm-6pm
- Contract: Permanent, Term Time only
- Start Date: October 2025

About the Role
As a School Cleaner, you will deliver a first-class cleaning and janitorial service at Trimdon Hill School. You may also be asked to perform other duties appropriate to the role as directed by the Office Manager or Headteacher.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work as part of the site team to carry out daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties
- Clean all surfaces, fixtures, fittings, floors, walls, and internal woodwork according to the cleaning schedule
- Clean toilets, changing rooms, and other sanitary areas
- Undertake special cleaning programmes during school closures or designated periods
- Collect and dispose of waste appropriately
- Refill and replace consumables
- Maintain orderly and secure storage of supplies
- Operate everyday equipment according to instructions
- Report faulty equipment and other maintenance requirements using the electronic reporting system
Essential:
- Experience working in a similar cleaning or janitorial role

Trimdon Hill School, located in Trimdon Grange, County Durham, is a brand-new school that opened in June 2025. The school caters for 40 pupils aged 4 to 11 years with a diagnosis of autism, who may also have a range of complex learning needs, communication challenges, and sensory difficulties.
For over 16 years, Options Autism has provided high-quality care and education to pupils, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties.
