About Rocksteady Music School: We are the UK's biggest employer of full-time, permanent musicians. We teach in-school rock and pop band lessons to primary age children and operate in thousands of schools across the UK, teaching over 100,000 children weekly. We're growing fast. Joining as a band leader means you will inspire the next generation.

Our band leaders come from diverse backgrounds and may not have a music-related role or teaching experience. If you bring the right combination of musical ability, passion for our purpose and enthusiasm for learning, we offer the training you need to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Teach groups of primary-age children in a fun, inspiring rock and pop band format in up to 10 schools per week.
  • Give children their first opportunity to learn an instrument - drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
  • Work independently as part of a remote team of band leaders, with support from central teams.
  • Be a rock and pop star role-model, empowering and supporting children to deliver live performances at end-of-term concerts.
  • Help children develop self-belief, resilience and wellbeing through performing in a band.
  • Represent Rocksteady, building relationships with schools, teachers and parents.
  • Be prepared for highly active days and to spend time on the road driving between schools; load/unload equipment and set up/pack away at each location.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Competence on at least two of the following instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
  • Enthusiasm to learn how to teach band lessons and complete an extensive training programme before starting timetable.
  • Resilience to work in a role with significant moments of achievement and challenge.
  • Confidence to be oneself at work and to communicate with children, teachers and parents.
  • Integrity to promote safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Organised, independent worker with good time management and administration skills.
  • UK/EU driving licence and own transport to transport equipment and travel between schools.

Note: We appreciate that prior experience does not always tell the full story; if you're interested, don't rule yourself out if you feel you don't tick every box.

Benefits
  • Full-time, salaried position.
  • Work Monday - Friday, daytimes only.
  • 11+ weeks paid holiday per year.
  • Fuel contribution - 45p per business mile.
  • Annual staff bonus - £1,500 per annum.
  • Long service award: an additional 4 weeks' pay after 5 years.
  • Full training in progressive teaching methodologies.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including discounts on everyday purchases and free 24/7 GP service.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Celebratory staff away-days, Christmas parties and social events.
  • Opportunities to work with the Rocksteady Foundation.
