Payroll Project Lead
12-18 month FTC
Central London
Hybrid working
£55-62k per annum

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Project Lead to join their busy team on a contract basis
Duties include;

  • Lead and manage multiple payroll transformation projects, including digitisation, system improvements, and process optimisation
  • Oversee and develop the Analytics Team, ensuring effective delivery and performance
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor project timelines, resources, risks, and deliverables using Agile methodology
  • Act as the main escalation point, resolving project issues and ensuring successful outcomes
  • Support system configuration, testing (UAT), and implementation of payroll solutions
  • Produce reporting, analysis, and documentation (process maps, workflows, specifications) to support decision-making
  • Drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, GDPR, and audit requirements
  • Engage and communicate with key stakeholders across Payroll, HR, Finance, IT, and external partners

You will have;
  • Extensive payroll expertise with strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, RTI, statutory payments, and pensions
  • Proven project leadership experience delivering payroll transformation, system upgrades, and process improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
  • Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment
  • Skilled in payroll system configuration, testing (UAT), and implementation
  • Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence across HR, Finance, IT, and senior leadership
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, governance, and risk management
  • Confident communicator, able to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Proactive, innovative, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, data protection, and audit compliance
