Job Description

Role: Part Time Finance Assistant

Location: Central Birmingham 2 days and home working 3 days

Hours: 30 hours per week flexible

Salary: £25 - 28,000 pro rota

We are working on behalf of an established and award winning organisation, who are seeking a part time Finance Assistant to join their Finance department. This role would report into the Finance Manager.

As a Finance Assistant you will be responsible for the smooth running of the organisations finance function, with keeping up to date with accurate records relating to financial transactions in Quickbooks and Google documents. This includes accurately inputting and coding purchase invoices, purchase orders, sales invoices and bank transactions.

The organisation operates a flexible working environment with the expectation to be office based at their modern offices in central Birmingham approximately 2 days a week. Their offices have nearby parking, or a short walk from Birmingham Moor Street train station.

The successful candidate will work part time 30 hours per week which could be either 5 days working reduce hours or 4 full days.

Please note all positions within this organisation require a DBS which will be taken out by the employer.

Role and responsibilities:

  • As a part time Finance Assistant you will be responsible for the promptly responding to all queries received in the finance inbox and support the Finance Manager in the smooth running of the finance operations.
  • Responsible for accurately inputting and processing supplier invoices and statements, ensuring they are correctly authorised
  • Create and manage fortnightly BACs runs
  • Promptly raise invoices and purchase orders
  • Maintain accurate recording keeping in the the accounting system Quickbooks by accurately posting all entries as they occur
  • Reconcile bank accounts weekly and allocate payments received
  • Closely manage debtors to ensure payments are received in a timely manner
  • Manage the petty cash and debit card payments and process transactions
  • Support with processing timesheets for monthly payroll for up 60 - payroll is currently outsourced
  • Process expenses
  • Assist with the annual audit process and accounts submission to various bodies
  • Adhoc finance related tasks as required

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven experience in similar Finance Assistant, Finance Officer or Accounts Assistant role is essential
  • Experience using Quickbooks advantageous
  • Experience working in not-for-profit advantageous
  • Ability to work as part of a small team essential
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
