MSK Physiotherapist - Team Lead

We have the opportunity to recruit a full-time MSK Band 7 Team Lead Physiotherapist to work within our Musculoskeletal Team in Southampton.

We are looking for a motivated individual with extensive MSK experience who is passionate about delivering high quality patient care. The successful candidate will have aspirations to develop their career alongside our team of physiotherapists, clinical specialists, exercise rehabilitation instructors and FCP's.

You will be responsible for delivering evidence based patient care to a complex and varied clinical caseload of MSK patients. The successful candidate will have many opportunities to develop their clinical and leadership skills through high quality teaching, regular supervision, and proactive engagement in research, quality improvement and service development. Examples of recent service developments include delivery of a Combined Psychological and Physical Programme for chronic low back pain in collaboration with IAPT services, and a Fibromyalgia Living Well Programme. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS MSK Service also delivers an extensive FCP service within our region.

Main duties of the job

To take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal patients, determine clinical diagnosis and appropriate treatment and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

Participate in the delivery of First Contact Physiotherapy provision within the Solent MSK Service

To act as an experienced and skilled physiotherapy resource for the service and multi disciplinary team in the specialism of neuromusculoskeletal out patients.

To ensure appropriate management of patients within the MSK Pathways.

To undertake the supervision of allocated professional staff members and students via a formal appraisal system.

Ensure a high standard of education/training is delivered, and facilitate reflective practice, clinical reasoning, audit and research projects within the department to ensure ongoing clinical effectiveness.

Qualifications
  • BSc Hons Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration
  • Evidence of post graduate courses / CPD
  • Member Chartered Society Physiotherapy
Experience
  • Relevant MSK experience with experience as senior physiotherapist
  • Experience in all three core areas of physiotherapy
  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding of complex MSK presentations and appropriate management and interventions
  • Understand the role of the FCP and triage services

  • Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession
  • Ability to present information, written & orally, in a clear and logical manner
  • Excellent clinical reasoning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Critical appraisal, audit, service evaluation and experience of research.
