Interim Health & Safety and Wellbeing Manager

Cedar is supporting a key Public Sector client, with offices in London and York, who are looking to hire an Interim Health & Safety and Wellbeing Manager on a 6 to 12-month contract. Commencing in January 2026 this role will operate INSIDE IR35 offering a Day Rate ranged from £575 up to £650 per day. The role will operate on a Hybrid Working basis with the requirement to be on-site 3 days per week at either the London or York office (1 day per week is required on-site at the other office location).

The successful candidate will provide programme-wide oversight of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) and play a key role in supporting the integration of system safety and occupational health and safety (OHS) reporting and assurance. The successful candidate will work closely with both engineering and safety teams, acting as a bridge between disciplines to ensure joined-up safety thinking and compliance across the programme.

• strong background in both engineering and occupational health and safety, with a strong track record in CDM and system safety (ideally including CSM exposure)
• ability to work across organisational boundaries, influencing and collaborating with engineering, safety, and delivery teams
• strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and best practice, including experience with major infrastructure or rail projects
• experience developing and implementing integrated safety management systems and reporting frameworks
• excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and challenge at all levels
