LOCATION: London - 3 working days in the office with the remainder hybrid working
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £80,000 - £95,000pa depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThe Head of Strategy supports BBC Senior Leaders in the development and execution of the overall strategic direction of the BBC and its strategic priorities. The role involves people and project management and reports into a Controller of Strategy. We are recruiting for two posts.
WHY JOIN THE TEAMThe Strategy team helps the BBC define its future and develop a plan for getting there. We act as independent advisors to the leadership of the BBC, partnering with senior leaders to develop creative and practical ideas for how the BBC and its services should evolve. We use data and insight to help the organisation evaluate trade-offs and choices where the answer isn't highly obvious.

The Strategy team is part of the Group Strategy & Transformation division, with the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer sitting on the BBC's Executive Committee.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACTIn addition to the specific responsibilities referenced above, Head of Strategy roles at the BBC can be expected to:
- Manage a range of complex strategy projects across the divisions that are designed to deliver pan-BBC and divisional strategy priorities. You will bring divisional experience and knowledge to cross-divisional strategic issues/projects.
- Co ordinate the development of longer term strategy for the division based on review of key markets, technology and audience trends, and policy/regulatory developments. Contributing to objective setting and performance review process to ensure the division is accurately represented in the BBC's regular performance reports.
- Advise directors and senior management on external developments in the market, policy and technology and the implications for strategy development across the Group.
- Support the Director, Strategy and Controller, Strategy in contributing to major pan BBC strategy projects. This will include presenting compelling arguments and diagnostics to influence divisional boards and senior stakeholders.
- Work closely with policy and regulatory legal in the delivery of strategic priorities including new service development.
- Provide divisional boards with the strategic tools/approach needed to help them solve their business issues.
- Line manage as required.
- In-depth knowledge of the media landscape in the UK and globally, and experience in a senior management role and/or of undertaking strategy development within a large organisation or consultancy.
- Substantial experience of leading complex projects with diverse stakeholders as well as being experienced in the resolution of politically sensitive issues.
- Possess strong negotiating and influencing skills with the ability to influence decision makers and be confident advising senior teams (to Director/Board level).
- Demonstrable experience of presenting complex data and arguments in ways that are accessible to everyone.
- Possess strong leadership skills with experience of leading and managing professional 2/3 professional teams, including providing coaching and feedback.
