Petrogas E&P Netherlands B.V., a Petrogas E&P LLC subsidiary, is part of the exploration and production arm of the privately held, Oman-based MB Holding Group of Companies. Petrogas E&P was established in 1999, initially focusing on improving recovery from mature oil fields in Oman. Petrogas E&P nowadays operates over 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and holds exploration and production interests in Oman, the Netherlands, Egypt, UK, and Denmark.
Petrogas E&P Netherlands B.V., through its predecessors, has been very active in the Netherlands and other part of the North Sea since the mid-1960's and has been operating oil and natural gas production since 1982. Natural gas is produced from 5 offshore production assets, comprising the A/B-blocks shallow gas developments. Two shallow gas developments were recently added and have been on production for about a year. All operated oil fields have been shut in and were decommissioned in the last few years. Petrogas Transportation B.V. also owns and operates the P9/Q1 oil transmission systems and various inter-field gas transmission infrastructure.

Role overview:
The position requires you to have a keen interest in oil and gas exploration. Within this role you will be part of and leading a small exploration team within the Subsurface department. You will be reporting to the Subsurface manager.
You will bring strong technical and management skills into the existing team, and you have solid technical skills in at least one but preferably more of the following areas: quantitative geophysics; seismic interpretation and regional/structural geology.
The role provides the opportunity to work in a privately owned company with a firm commitment to growth and to shape the company's future by supporting the local and possibly wider exploration strategy and any business development activities.
Key job responsibilities
- Support the definition and execution of the exploration strategy, preparation of business cases and presenting to business partners
- Support building business cases for drilling and data acquisition
- Execute and/or manage projects focusing on the following technical responsibilities: Seismic interpretation, quantitative seismic interpretation (AVO/Rock physics/Inversion etc.), regional basin modelling, prospect maturation and structural model building projects, data acquisition, etc.
- Support/set technical guidelines and standards in area(s) of expertise for the whole G&G team and support QA of internal and NOJV projects (peer reviews, well plan reviews, TCM)
- Managing a team and mentoring and coaching of junior G&G staff
Qualifications
- Minimum MSC level in Geophysics, Geology, or equivalent.
Work experience
- 10+ years relevant industry experience focused ideally on oil and gas exploration and/or development
- Relevant and up-to-date technical hands-on experience in seismic interpretation, quantitative geophysics, and modelling using Petrel software
- Good understanding of (structural) geology, uncertainty, and risk analysis
- Comfortable with integration and QC of a multitude of data sources
- Experience with processing or managing seismic processing projects is a plus
- Project and people management experience, including managing of service companies and consultants
- Experience of exploration in the Uk and Dutch sectors of the North Sea is preferred
