Driver - Linen/Laundry

We are looking to recruit one part-time driver on a 30 hour contract working Monday to Friday between the hours , to join our dedicated transport team. As an NHS driver, you will play a vital role in the smooth operation of our linen/laundry delivery team, driving a 3.5 tonne tail lift vehicle between our trust sites.
You must be able to demonstrate experience of driving this type of vehicle.
Main duties of the jobNHS drivers have a variety of responsibilities that are essential for the smooth operation of healthcare services. Their main duties typically include:
- Cross site transportation: driving and adhering to all road laws, safe and efficient cross site transportation of staff.
- Vehicle Maintenance: performing regular checks, including checking oil, fuel, tyre pressure, and ensuring the vehicle is clean and well stocked.
- Adhering to Safety Protocols: following strict health and safety guidelines.
- Record Keeping: maintaining accurate records of deliveries, pick ups, mileage, and any incidents or issues encountered during their duties.
- Assisting staff: providing assistance to staff with mobility issues, helping them get in and out of the vehicle safely, and ensuring they are comfortable during transport.
- Communication: communicating effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and sometimes patients' families to ensure clear information exchange and coordination.
These duties require NHS drivers to be highly responsible, reliable, and empathetic, with good driving skills and a thorough understanding of health and safety regulations.

Job responsibilities- Keep accurate personal records, i.e. timesheets.
- Manage workload to maximise efficiency of deliveries and collections.
- Problem solve to address on site customer enquiries.
- Maintain the standard of service as agreed, keeping within timed schedules, and working unsupervised.
- Plan own day to day work tasks.
- Supply a delivery and collection service as laid down by current schedules.
- Maintain documented reports associated with each journey - i.e. vehicle log sheets, mileage - to comply with Transport Regulations.
- Check the vehicle each day before use, of fuel, oil, water, tyres, lights, and keep documented records of defect reports and other associated forms; take vehicle to hire for repairs, servicing and MOTs.
- Keep the vehicle clean inside and out to prevent dirt and cross contamination.
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of goods, observing Health and Safety guidelines to prevent injury to self and others.
- Communicate with other staff at various levels within the Trust.
- Establish good working relationships with all customers to maintain the agreed level of service.
- Plan and prioritise day to day workload as appropriate.
- Inform all relevant parties of any changes that may occur outside your agreed schedule.
- Demonstrate good driving practice, following road traffic regulations, being aware of other road users including pedestrians to ensure safety of others.
- Communicate with staff and customers in a courteous and diplomatic manner, maintaining good working relationships and being an effective team member.
- Work unsupervised and demonstrate use of initiative.
- Manage time and prioritise tasks.
- Carry out manual handling of heavy loads.
- Clean Driving Licence for use up to 7.5 tonne weight.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
