Director, UK and Europe
Hybrid (2 days perweek in our Holborn office)
Salary £75k -£85k DOE

The Director, UK and Europe, will lead consultancy activity and business development across the UK and European markets, driving growth, strategic alignment, and client engagement across THE's combined product portfolios. The role will have responsibility for developing and implementing a regional strategy that strengthen THE's market position, deliver outstanding client value, and contribute to the overall success of the Data and Analytics division.

This position combines commercial leadership, client engagement, team management, and product development responsibilities, with a particular focus on integrating data-led insight into consultancy delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Act as the Consultancy Lead Director for the UK and Europe, providing strategic direction and oversight across the region.
  • Lead UK-focused business development, including building the profile and visibility of the combined THE product portfolio.
  • Provide expert consultancy support to university clients on and portfolio growth strategy based on advanced analytical modelling and knowledge of the UK higher education market.
  • Provide line management of UK consultancy team members based in London, Leeds and Bristol offices.
  • Support the UK Commercial Team to grow the UK-focused proposition, dedicating approximately 50% of time to business development activities, proposal writing, and pre-sales client support.
  • Manage the UK and Europe sales pipeline, identifying gaps and developing strategies to strengthen future opportunities.
  • Oversee UK and Europe marketing strategies and the development of product collateral to support client engagement and brand positioning.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the UK higher education competitive landscape and position THE's value proposition effectively within it.
  • Lead and contribute to project delivery, including international projects (outside of the UK market where necessary).
Person Specification Essential
  • Experience in business development and client relationship management within the higher education or consultancy sector.
  • Strong understanding of the UK, and European, higher education markets and competitive landscape.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop multidisciplinary teams, ideally across multiple locations.
  • Commercial acumen and experience managing sales pipelines, marketing initiatives, and client acquisition strategies.
  • Experience in data-led consultancy or managing a data-focused functionli>
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to Leeds and Bristol for team meetings and across the UK and Europe for client visits.
  • Demonstrable experience in project leadership, including managing high-value, international consultancy projects.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Experience and aptitude for people management
Desirable
  • Experience working with or within UK higher education institutions.
  • Familiarity with portfolio review and data-led programme insight
  • Experience leading cross-functional product development initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
  • Track record of innovation in consultancy or data-informed product design.
  • Experience of leading consultative sales and business development conversations with senior university decision-makers
