Cyber Security Engineer

As Ireland's leading private healthcare provider, Mater Private Network is at the forefront of digital transformation. We are investing significantly in our technological infrastructure to enhance patient care, and we are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our dedicated team.

This is a pivotal role focused on driving the execution of our enterprise cyber security roadmap. You will contribute to managing and improving our security posture through technology implementation and the rigorous validation of systems and architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Implementation: Lead the deployment of security-focused solutions, including PAM, EDR, and other enterprise-grade tools.
• Architectural Review: Evaluate the information security architecture and controls for current and future projects, ensuring security is "baked-in" by design.
• Security Hardening: Proactively identify and remediate misconfigurations across our infrastructure, cloud, and endpoint environments.
• Change Management: Support Senior Security Engineers in managing the security impact of technological changes across the network.
• Strategy & Design: Collaborate with the wider security team to develop designs, roadmaps, and strategic documentation that shape our future security landscape.

Requirements

• Experience: 4+ years of hands-on IT experience (e.g., Systems Admin, Infrastructure, or Cloud Engineering) with a proven interest in security.
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to conduct technical security assessments and identify vulnerabilities.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a flexible, results-focused attitude.
• Mindset: A holistic security mindset with the ability to balance robust protection with operational efficiency.
• Enterprise Systems: Deep understanding of how enterprise systems are built (Identity, Networking, Servers, and Azure/M365 platforms).
• Frameworks: Familiarity with industry-standard frameworks such as NIST or ISO27001.
• Automation: Experience leveraging scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and efficiency.
• Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (though we value hands-on experience above all).
