Your Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

You will also need to have the following knowledge, experience and qualifications

  • Educated to Level 2 of the National Qualification Framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or willing to work towards
  • Asbestos Awareness or willing to work towards.
  • An understanding of health and safety legislation, approved code of practice (ACOP) and guidance and practical application.
  • Experience of working with statutory, community, voluntary and business sectors.
  • Experience in legal compliance and risk management in health and safety.
What you'll be doing:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Communal Area Inspection Officer to join our Health and safety team. In this role, you will oversee safety compliance in common areas and play a vital part in supporting the Fire Safety and Compliance Manager.

As our Communal Area Inspection Officer, you will be visiting Tai Calon properties across Blaenau Gwent to conduct inspections to identify safety hazards and non-compliance, address any concerns by clearing unsafe items, and educate residents on maintaining a secure environment. You will also be instrumental in reporting safety issues and escalating matters when necessary, ensuring that all high-risk concerns are addressed promptly.

You will need to have a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail, as you will ensure that all inspections and actions are recorded and followed up, keeping our properties and residents safe.

For a more detailed overview of what you will be doing, our Communal Area Inspection Officer will take ownership of

  • Undertaking a range of daily and weekly site inspections across Blaenau Gwent, including blocks of flats and secured development sites, checking for, recording, and reporting any compliance, security or safety and compliance issues.
  • Reporting any issues directly to the responsible relevant teams for action.
  • Accurately recording details of inspections, including taking photographs, photocopying, and scanning.
  • Liaising with residents to raise their awareness of any issues or concerns and inform them of their responsibilities.
  • Making arrangements for high-risk items to be removed immediately from the area/s.

Permanent

Working Pattern:

You will work 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

You will also be eligible for our Flexi Time scheme, with most colleagues working their hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
