Safeguarding Information

Keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do. As part of our recruitment process, we take steps to make sure everyone who joins us shares this commitment.

What this means for you:

  • All roles in our schools involve a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • If you're successful, you'll need to complete some pre employment checks, such as an enhanced DBS check and verifying your right to work in the UK. We'll explain these clearly and guide you through the process.
  • During the interview, we may ask questions about your understanding of safeguarding. This isn't a test-it's about ensuring we all share the same values and priorities.

Because every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and able to thrive. These checks and conversations help us create a secure and welcoming environment for everyone.

If you have any questions about safeguarding or the checks we carry out, please let us know-we're happy to help.

Oak Tree Primary School and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.
