Job Description
Advanced Clinical Pharmacist - Cardiology

The closing date is 19 November 2025

This role provides specialist pharmacy services to the cardiology directorate for a 12 month maternity leave cover. You will manage and support a small team of junior pharmacists and technicians, ensuring high quality pharmacy services across the 14 bed Acute Coronary Care Unit, 39 bed cardiology ward and the Cardiac Cath lab.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Medicine (Aintree site) in developing pharmacy services and medicines management within the Cardiology Directorate.
  • Provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to the Cardiology Directorate.
  • Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Medicine in providing clinical training and supervision, relevant to Cardiology, for other departmental staff.
  • Provide non medical prescribing services to the Cardiology Directorate.
  • Act as an independent prescriber in accordance with the Trust's Non Medical Prescribers policies and guidelines (once registered as a non medical prescriber).
  • Participate in consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings relevant to the designated wards and/or directorate.
  • Provide highly specialist pharmaceutical information to medical and nursing staff and patients within the Cardiology Directorate and to general practitioners and other Trust staff where appropriate.
  • Deliver leadership and a proactive, patient focussed clinical pharmacy service to Cardiology services.
Person specification Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Self motivating and able to motivate/inspire others.
  • Ability to effect and manage change.
Qualifications
  • Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy.
  • Membership of The General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience.
  • Full NMP qualification.
  • MRPharmS.
  • UKCPA membership.
Experience
  • Significant experience in a relevant specialist pharmacist role.
  • Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development/education and training.
  • Experience as a NMP.
Knowledge
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and practical clinical skills for the relevant specialist role.
  • Good all round clinical knowledge and practical skills.
