Job Advert: Solicitor (Grade 9) - Legal

Location: Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent

Employment Type: Temporary (12 Weeks)

Start Date: 10 November 2025

Number of Roles: 1

Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements may be considered)

Salary: PAYE: £22.65 per hour Umbrella: £29.03 per hour

Are you a qualified Solicitor seeking a rewarding temporary opportunity within local government?

Network Recruitment Wales is seeking a skilled and motivated Solicitor (Grade 9) to join the Legal Team in Ebbw Vale for a 12 week assignment, providing essential cover within a busy and supportive environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of legal services, with a focus on regulatory prosecutions and advice, primarily in the Magistrates' Court, and to provide expert support to Planning and Licensing Committees.

What You'll Do:
  • Conduct and manage regulatory prosecutions and provide clear legal advice in connection with such cases.
  • Advise and support Planning and Licensing Committees, ensuring legal compliance and robust decision making.
  • Prepare and present cases before the Magistrates' Court and other relevant legal forums.
  • Draft and review legal documents, reports, and correspondence to a high professional standard.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external agencies, and partner organisations as required.
  • (Desirable) Provide legal support to Adult Social Services where appropriate.
What We're Looking For:
  • A qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate (England and Wales).
  • Experience in regulatory law, local government, or public sector legal services.
  • Knowledge of planning, licensing, and prosecution procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong advocacy experience.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise competing deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong professional ethics and commitment to public service values.
Essential Requirements:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Submission of an up to date CV and Criminal Convictions Declaration at application stage.
