We're looking for a Procurement Manager to come join our Procurement team. You'll join a high performing team and will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing process, optimising supplier relationships, and leveraging market insights to help deliver tangible value whilst supporting sustainable growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the relationships with a pool of suppliers within specific categories of spend ensuring a professional and high level of engagement, providing Starling with a 'share of voice' within the supplier organisation.
  • Engage in the process of reviewing, negotiating, contracting, and recontracting third-party agreements in a manner consistent with commercial, regulatory, legal and policy principles for both new and renewal agreements.
  • Negotiate and establish competitive commercial agreements, documenting evidence of commercial improvements or cost avoidance.
  • Post contract: Be responsible for the 'In-Contract Management" of an agreement, measuring the relationship against agreed SLAs, engaging with internal stakeholders and ensuring a regular cadence of MI meetings with strategic suppliers.
  • Look for opportunities to optimise vendor's commercial and operational performance as well as internal processes.
  • Identify, document and agree requirements at the beginning of a project to provide clarity during the contracting, negotiation & sign off process.
  • Maintain knowledge of third-party arrangements with an emphasis around 'Service Level Agreements'; pricing, termination and notice provisions.
  • Maintain a sound working knowledge base of category supplier capacities in market, category market trends and developments, attending trade events and conferences where applicable.
  • Keep abreast of all sector regulatory legislation and changes. Ensuring you comply with all associated training.
  • Ensure that all procurement and contractual workflows are maintained and kept up to date within the contract management system.
  • Build healthy and productive relationships with key internal stakeholders within category spend areas.
  • Act as a point of escalation, providing guidance and support to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Work closely with the Vendor Management Office (VMO) and Due Diligence team ensuring supplier on-boarding is in line with company values, ensuring all relevant criteria and ethical thresholds are met.
  • Work closely with the commercial legal team throughout the contracting process.
  • Work in tandem with both the Data Protection and Security teams ensuring contracts meet current thresholds in these areas.
  • Contribute to Monthly reporting and updates to Executives (VMF)
  • Conduct market tenders / benchmarks (RFP, RFI & RFQs) as required.
  • Where applicable, maintain inventory (volume & quality thereof) with suppliers providing up to date forecasts and ensuring a seamless supply of product as required by the business.
  • Ambassador for the wider function within Starling
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Procurement Manager
    • Experience of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong research skills
  • Highly numerate, with the ability to analyse and interpret challenging data, in order to provide positive commercial outcomes.
  • Be contractually literate and have the ability to negotiate around the finer points of an agreement
  • Have experience of managing & writing RPPs and tender documentation
  • Great relationship-building, communication, problem solving, organisational and time.management skills with an overall collaborative approach
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work cooperatively as part of a team

Preferable

  • At least 3 years' of experience in a software tech and/or fintech company
  • Good understanding of the financial sector (and relevant regulations)
  • Experienced in Microsoft / Google Workspace / Managing Datasets
