PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience (plus £5441 London Weighting if applicable). The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThe People Data Analyst plays a key role in enabling BBC Studios to make evidence-based decisions through high-quality people data and insights. You'll help turn complex data into clear, actionable stories that shape our people strategies, drive business outcomes, and enhance our employee experience.
WHY JOIN THE TEAMAs part of the People Data and Insights team, you'll contribute to the development of innovative data products and dashboards, support upskilling across the wider department, and champion best practice in data management and reporting. You'll also be instrumental in our data transformation journey - simplifying, automating, and modernising our data products to better meet the needs of HR and the wider business.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT- Design, build, and deliver analytical models, reports, and dashboards that provide actionable insights across BBC Studios People and HR functions.
- Translate complex data into meaningful stories and visualisations that inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Support the development and governance of KPIs and metrics, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business objectives.
- Contribute to the management, documentation, and quality assurance of people data, maintaining strong standards of data integrity and confidentiality.
- Collaborate closely with the BBC People Analytics & Insights team to drive alignment and advance the wider BBC People Analytics strategy.
- Assist in the ongoing transformation of our products by helping automate and simplify reporting and analytics processes.
- Provide reporting support where required and contribute to continuous improvement in data practices and literacy across HR. Lead by example in promoting data-driven thinking and upskilling others in data tools and storytelling.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data using statistical methods.
- Experience creating dashboards, reports, and data models (e.g., Tableau or similar).
- Proficiency in tools such as Excel, SQL, and Python for data analysis and manipulation.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Proactive mindset with strong organisational skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience working with HR data, including understanding of core metrics (e.g. turnover, diversity, engagement etc)
- Familiarity with HR systems (e.g. SAP) and data architecture.
- Experience working within complex and fragmented technology landscapes, including mixed data and system environments.
