We are excited to offer this opportunity, and this is an excellent career step for candidates with experience in highways, transportation and construction backgrounds, looking to join a large and thriving organisation.

In this role, you will assist with leading the Eden Area Highways Team, managing, preparing, designing and processing highway improvement and maintenance projects, as well as undertaking inventory collection. This includes carrying out activities relating to surveys, design, specification, and data collection and input.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a strong communicator, as you will provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues in respect of specifications and standards for highways design and maintenance. You will also provide advice on the application of legislation, regulation, policy and principles to both internal and external customers of the Council.

This role is a great opportunity for candidates who have significant experience of highway, transportation, or construction design, as well as a sound knowledge of local government and dealing with customers. Awareness of construction contracts, highway maintenance activities and national design standards is also essential. You will be able to work under pressure, and be an effective team member, driving innovation and motivation throughout the team and service.

Experience of winter maintenance is desirable, as this role will support winter maintenance activities to given timescales, costs and specifications, but full training and support will be given.
