Role OverviewYou will provide expert pharmaceutical care to patients with inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions. The role includes pharmacist-led clinics, biologic infusion support, therapeutic drug monitoring, and medicines optimisation. You'll also contribute to guideline development, audit, clinical trials, and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver specialist pharmacy services across gastroenterology
- Act as an independent prescriber (or work towards qualification)
- Provide therapeutic drug monitoring and patient counselling
- Support infusion clinics and ward rounds
- Advise clinicians on complex medication regimes
- Lead on formulary submissions, audits, and service improvement
- Monitor drug expenditure and support cost-effectiveness reviews
- Educate and mentor pharmacy staff and multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to governance, sustainability, and quality initiatives
- GPhC-registered pharmacist
- Advanced clinical practice in a relevant specialty
- Understanding of NICE guidance and high-cost drug pathways
- Experience in audit, service improvement, or researchStrong communication and leadership skills
- MSc or postgraduate qualification in advanced clinical pharmacy or gastroenterology
- Experience in gastroenterology, hepatology, or biologic/infusion services
- Independent prescriber qualification (or working towards)
- Experience developing prescribing guidelines or treatment pathways
- Experience leading QI projects or cross-site service development
- Line-management or clinical supervision experience
- Band 8a salary: £55,690-£62,682 per annum
