Description

We are seeking a skilled Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Auditor to ensure contractors meet nationally recognized legal and compliance standards.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality, desk-based and on-site audits, providing professional guidance to contractors while maintaining integrity and consistency across our accreditation process.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality audits: Conduct detailed desk-based audits of contractors' HSQE management systems, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards.
  • Maintain audit integrity: Assess documentation submitted by contractors, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and fairness. Your findings will contribute to a national compliance database accessed by buyers across the UK.
  • Support contractor success: Engage with contractors throughout the audit process, providing clear feedback on non-conformances and guiding them toward compliance without compromising audit integrity.
  • Work to targets: Meet KPIs and productivity targets while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Liaise with stakeholders at all levels, from Directors to SMEs, offering expert advice and building strong relationships.
  • Conduct on-site audits: Travel to contractor offices or client sites as needed to ensure real-world operations align with documented procedures.
  • Contribute to assessment standards: Advise on legal requirements, interpret legislation, and recommend updates to keep the scheme relevant and compliant.
  • Improve internal practices: Share best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives across systems and processes.
Qualifications and Skills
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (TechIOSH or above)
  • At least 2 years' UK Health & Safety experience, ideally in construction or supply chain sector
  • Knowledge of H&S, environmental legislation, and ISO auditing standards
  • Familiarity with procurement and supply chain risk management
  • Experience in quality assurance or auditing
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • Ability to challenge, influence, and support professionals at all levels
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Analytical skills and confidence in drawing conclusions from complex information
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a target/KPI-driven environment
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to high-quality customer service
