Job Title: Facilities Manager
Location: Penny Tree School, Birmingham B30 3ES
Salary: £31,500.00 per annum ( not pro rata )
Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent Full-Time 52 weeks

We're seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to join Penny Tree School - a brand-new specialist school scheduled to open in March 2026, providing education for pupils with Autism.
As our Facilities Manager, you'll play a vital role in shaping a safe, inspiring, and well-maintained learning environment from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of facilities management, compliance, and health and safety as we establish and grow our new school community.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school site, leading on maintenance, security, and health & safety across the grounds. Working closely with the Headteacher and wider team, you'll help create an environment where pupils and staff can thrive.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing building maintenance, compliance checks, and site safety
- Managing contractors and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective service delivery
- Leading health & safety training, audits, and emergency procedures
- Ensuring facilities meet statutory requirements and school standards
- Supporting the development and expansion of our new school site
Who We're Looking For
We're searching for a Facilities Manager who is:
- Experienced in facilities, estates, or site management (school experience desirable)
- Knowledgeable in health & safety and compliance procedures (IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous)
- Practical and proactive, with strong problem-solving and leadership skills
- Organised and detail-focused, able to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Positive and adaptable, with a calm and engaging approach around pupils and staff
Energy, passion, and a commitment to maintaining exceptional standards are key. You'll be a role model for professionalism, safety, and teamwork - and play a crucial part in the growth of our brand-new school.
About Us
Penny Tree School is a brand-new specialist school scheduled to open in March 2026, providing education for pupils with Autism. The school will cater for up to 60 pupils with Autism. Penny Tree School will offer a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment, where every child is valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
