About UsThe Contracts & Procurement Legal Team at Westminster City Council provides legal services to local authority clients, including Westminster City Council and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. We assist with a wide range of legal situations and requests for advice, including public sector procurement and commercial contracts. The council supports professional development, including the SQE qualification.
Key Responsibilities- Support lawyers with drafting legal documentation and preparing contract engrossments.
- Conduct legal research, write reports and proof read documents.
- Develop and maintain efficient administrative systems for the team, ensuring compliance and driving improvements.
- Serve a routine caseload, understanding public sector legal service requirements to best assist clients.
- Work effectively under deadlines; manage multiple pressing matters simultaneously.
- Communicate with clients in person and over the phone, handling confidential and sensitive correspondence.
- Legal degree or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience preparing contract engrossments (services contracts and construction contracts).
- Experience in legal research or report preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience in a local government legal practice preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and case management systems.
- Flexible working patterns and Agile working.
