We are looking for CNM 2 Clinical Placement Co-Ordinator/Student Allocation Liaison Officer to our hospital in Dublin.

Full Time 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Responsibilities

  • Ensure BSc nursing students meet clinical placement requirements and are allocated to appropriate preceptors on a daily basis.
  • Maintain effective communication with DCU Allocations and partner clinical sites regarding student placements and programme requirements.
  • Monitor student attendance, absenteeism, and repayment of clinical hours in line with placement guidelines and GDPR requirements.
  • Confirm and manage student timesheets accurately through the InPlace system.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to student progress, attendance, and overall clinical performance.
  • Attend and actively participate in nursing and university forums including SALO, BNCG Team, and ESNAP meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, confidentiality, and health and safety regulations.
  • Support students in maintaining professional conduct, patient confidentiality, and adherence to NMBI standards during placements.
  • Act as a key liaison between students, clinical sites, DCU, and nursing management to facilitate positive learning experiences.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive clinical learning environment for all nursing students.

CPC (Clinical Placement Coordinator)

  • Support and supervise BSc nursing students during clinical placements while ensuring collaboration with allocated preceptors and clinical staff.
  • Observe and evaluate students' clinical performance, providing constructive feedback to students, preceptors, and Clinical Nurse Managers.
  • Liaise with DCU Module Coordinators regarding student progress, learning needs, and performance concerns.
  • Develop and support staff in their role as preceptors and maintain updated preceptor training records across clinical areas.
  • Facilitate reflective practice, portfolio completion, and student understanding of NMBI Domains of Competence and professional ethics.
  • Organise and deliver preceptorship education programmes, reflective clinical learning days, and ongoing nursing education initiatives.
  • Promote evidence-based nursing practice and support quality improvement, accreditation, and clinical audit activities within the service.
  • Participate in committees, audits, accreditation processes, and professional forums relating to nursing education and clinical practice.
  • Support staff and students in accessing hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and digital learning resources such as Q Pulse and clinical manuals.
  • Foster strong interdisciplinary relationships, effective communication, professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive clinical learning culture while supporting staff and students in challenging situations.
Requirements
  • Coordinate and manage nursing student clinical placement allocations throughout the BNCG programme in line with NMBI requirements.
  • Liaise closely with DCU Allocations Office, partner hospitals, and relevant SALOs to ensure effective student placement planning.
  • Coordinate pre-placement requirements for first-year students and internship placements in collaboration with HR, DON, and Nursing Practice Development teams.
  • Support students in meeting placement requirements including Garda Vetting, Occupational Health clearance, and related documentation.
  • Facilitate placement arrangements for supernumerary students in collaboration with DCU and other healthcare institutions.
  • Maintain effective communication between Nursing Practice Development, nursing administration, students, and external agencies.
  • Liaise with nursing management regarding staffing requirements during rostered student placements.
  • Promote positive and collaborative relationships between clinical staff, nursing administration, universities, and students.
  • Provide guidance, support, and advice to students throughout their clinical learning experience.
  • Ensure compliance with DCU and hospital policies relating to absenteeism, confidentiality, professional conduct, GDPR, and NMBI standards.

CPC (Clinical Placement Coordinator)

  • Coordinate and support nursing students' clinical learning experiences in line with NMBI standards and BNCG programme requirements.
  • Provide professional, clinical, and educational leadership that promotes teamwork, innovation, quality improvement, and excellence in patient care.
  • Act as a key link between students, preceptors, Clinical Nurse Managers, DCU Module Coordinators, and the wider BNCG team.
  • Guide and support registered nurses in their role as preceptors during students' clinical placements.
  • Assist preceptors in conducting fair, objective, accurate, and timely competency assessments for student nurses.
  • Facilitate the correct use of clinical assessment and competency documentation by students and clinical staff.
  • Promote the integration of theoretical learning into clinical practice and encourage evidence-based nursing care.
  • Participate in service improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and the implementation of practice changes in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
  • Support student orientation, professional development, ethical practice, effective communication, confidentiality, and adaptation to the clinical environment while acting as a role model for professional nursing values and standards.
