Overview

Shape Amazon's construction procurement landscape in Europe as a Category Manager. Lead strategic construction procurement activities across a portfolio of multi million dollar real estate projects. Influence major construction projects, drive sustainable procurement practices, and collaborate with world class professionals across Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute construction category sourcing strategies across supply chain tiers (General Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers, OEMs) and trades (civil, architectural, MEP, fire protection, fit out) throughout Europe.
  • Increase Amazon's competitiveness, maintain supply continuity, and mitigate risks across geographic and business unit boundaries.
  • Deeply analyze construction categories and regions to add value, identify synergies, benchmark, innovate, eliminate waste, and realize economies of scale.
  • Drive cost optimisation through negotiation, standardisation, value engineering, and supply chain improvements.
  • Build effective internal and external relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and partners to enable collaborative work and a positive environment.
  • Negotiate, execute, and manage framework agreements.
  • Support sustainability initiatives aligned with Amazon's Climate Pledge.
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic insights to key stakeholders and procurement leadership for decision making.
  • Own individual targets and goals across the construction category scope, delivering incremental value and process improvements.
  • Innovate procurement tools and processes to improve the procurement life cycle.
A Day in the Life
  • Lead procurement processes including pre qualification, onboarding, tender management, evaluations, contract negotiations, and award recommendations under tight schedules.
  • Apply technical knowledge of construction trades to assess supplier capabilities, evaluate proposals, and drive value engineering initiatives.
  • Procure innovative, sustainable, and cost effective construction services to support Operations teams.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to optimise specifications across construction disciplines.
  • Serve as the key interface between project delivery and internal teams (Design, Construction, Real Estate, Legal) and senior leadership of external supply chain.
  • Support supplier performance management with Design and Construction partners.
  • Provide industry insight and develop procurement strategies to support strategic decision making.
  • Prepare white papers and anticipate objections, influencing senior level decision makers.
  • Adapt between strategy development and project management to meet customer needs.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and SQL skills.
  • Experience in program or project management.
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non tech teams.
  • Experience defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics.
  • Experience in supply chain.
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience driving end to end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Experience leading process improvements.
  • Experience in stakeholder management across varied organizational levels.
  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules.
